Background: Here!
Personality: On the surface, Sayaka's a normal girl who seems well-deserving of your admiration and trust.
Despite being a famous idol that's revered and adored by many, Sayaka displays not a hint of arrogance or contempt for others. Rather, she's polite, modest and patient. A kind person willing to help others, someone who is quick to reassure the worried and calm the agitated. At times she can seem almost motherly to those she judges to be in need of it, a role Sayaka takes to with all the apparent ease of one born to carry such responsibilities. Compared to most kids her age, Sayaka comes across as a remarkably mature and diplomatic girl. She's keenly perceptive and appears to possess that "just right" mix of optimism and realistic understanding of the world around her. Outwardly, Sayaka always seems capable of keeping her emotions under control.
Yet beneath all that is someone layered and complex, and not all of those layers are pleasant on the eyes. Her smile is plastic more often than not; her aura of normalcy little more than a clever, nearly faultless projection. Sayaka comes across as an open book to most because she's gotten very, very good at putting on the right mask for the right occasion. It's not that she's a naturally deceptive person (although no one could be blamed for thinking so) so much as that she's had a lot of practice at presenting a wholesome image. Her job as an idol demands it to such a high degree that the pressure has, externally at least, shaped Sayaka into the perfect example of what's expected of an idol: an ever-smiling embodiment of purity and propriety. Peel that away and what's left is a lonely, yet admittedly selfish girl who has become two-faced in order to navigate the idol industry at cost of her innocence and naivety.
The core of this duplicity is simple. Sayaka is deeply, deeply invested in her career as an idol. It's the dream she's chased after since she was very young, and it's a dream that's subjected her to more than her fair share of misery and hardship. In order to realize it, Sayaka had to do quite a few unscrupulous things - she had to be willing to get underhanded and engage in ruthless, manipulative behavior. And for the sake of her dream, even if it felt like she was living in a nightmare some days, Sayaka was (and continues to be) willing to throw others under the metaphorical bus in order to stay on top. It simply cannot be understated how much importance she attaches to this desire, the root of which can be traced back to her childhood: as a lonely only child, Sayaka drew strength and comfort from watching idols on TV. She attached to them as the cheerful big sisters she never had, as heroes to look up to and emulate, and swore to one day be able to help others in the same way with her own smile. It wasn't the fame and wealth that drew her to becoming an idol, nor the lofty position of being adored by millions, but this dream of alleviating the loneliness of others.
A noble goal, one would think, yet even after achieving her greatest wish and becoming a Super High School Level Idol, Sayaka remains haunted by the fear that one day she'll wake up and the dream will have ended; her career will be over, her friends gone and scattered, and herself reduced to a footnote in the idol industry's legacy. The loss of her dream, in Sayaka's eyes, frightens her as much as death does; indeed, the linchpin of her sanity essentially hangs on her being able to stay on top and in the spotlight. If, or when, it's ripped away from her, Sayaka cracks into a thousand little pieces under the pressure. It's at such a point that she'll even attempt murder if it means getting her dream back. However, it'd be unfair to confuse "malicious" with "desperate", because the latter is the only proper way to describe Sayaka. For all her faults, she falls quite short of being evil or irredeemable.
Abilities: Sayaka possesses no abilities beyond the human norm. However, she's stronger than she looks and has all the talents expected of a Super High School Level Idol; singing, dancing, etc.
